Hot Shot: Football Season

Summer is coming to a close and the weather is slowly getting colder. Do you know what that means? It’s the start of fall sport season. Also, scarf season… my favorite time of year. Enough about girly fashion. Let’s get down and dirty and talk about high school football sports.

I created a 45 second Tout that showcased my 206 RAW photos take of the Central York High School football practice. The final product is a video short of what it takes to get the perfect shot or shots. It’s the behind the scenes, director’s cut of my day.

Any photojournalist would understand the fast pace world of newspaper. Majority of all assignments are turned in the same day. Sometimes people don’t realize how much it takes to get the perfect shot. I was at Central York High School for about an hour, juggling video and photography.

Can you capture the perfect shot?

As an added bonus to the realm of visuals. Here are some gifs from the full-length video at Central York High School football team. Find your sports fix at GameTimePA.

Love Letter to Ireland

I went to Ireland last summer. It was the best thing I've done in my college career. The trip was great to rediscover myself as a creative.

I spent six weeks in Donegal, Ireland and worked with other students for a video documentary. By the end of the documentary, I found out I was more than just a photojournalist. I love doing video. I want to do more of it when I tell stories.

I hope when you do see these photographs, it moves you. It inspired you by the sway of the leaves, the droplets, or the waves.... I hope it moves some part of you do discover, travel, and change.

For just a moment being in Ireland, it made me feel like I could do anything. In working with the video documentary, I learned something from a restaurant owner in a little town called Letterkenny. He said, "Everyday is a school day." No matter where you are; school or not, you learn... about anything. You have the ability to pick and choose your knowledge.

Some of the photographs are in Donegal, Dublin, Belfast, and Derry. The video documentary I made was Made in Donegal, a emerging and growing  food movement in Northeast Ireland.

Vegas Family: Day 1

This is my pamilya in Las Vegas.

Family picking me up at the Las Vegas airport.

Pamilya means family in Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines.

These are the photographs on my first day. This is the lifestyle of my auntie and uncle who has lived to Vegas for at least 20 years.

Cross this off my bucket list, have a buffet in Vegas. It was $30.00 each person - never again.

I asked my relatives, "What was the biggest pot of money you won?" Thinking, you must have learned something living for so long in the state of chance.

"I won $1,200," said my aunt, "that is all."

"What did you do with?" She chucked, " I spent all of it."

After we spend a luxurious buffet at a hotel, she slipped me $20.00. It was my first time on the slots - and, I lost it all. Didn't have the Vegas luck, and I probably never will.

The realistic impression of Vegas I had for the first time; gray, shiny and lonely.
